Brief Bio:
Paula Chan is an Assistant Professor of Special Education in the College of Education and Human Services. After completing her graduate studies at the University of South Florida and The Ohio State University, Professor Chan was excited to return to her alma mater to work within the Cleveland State Community. She teaches classes in classroom management, transition to adulthood, research methods, and methods of instruction for moderate to intensive disabilities.

Professor Chan's research focuses in special education policy and practice. Her research focuses on transition to adulthood for youth and young adults with disabilities, and the school to prison pipeline, with an emphasis on adolescents with emotional and behavioral disorders. Recently, Professor Chan has been conducting research on teachers and student teachers with disabilities, and the school to prison pipeline.

In addition to teaching and research, Professor Chan provides service to the community supporting school district's School-Wide Positive Behavior Support initiatives. Professor Chan has also served as a parent advocate, helping parents through the complicated process of navigating accommodations within public schools and higher education settings. Within the University, Professor Chan serves as a faculty advisor for Delta Alpha Pi, a disability honors fraternity. She also serves on the Student Success Committee through Faculty Senate. She also serves on the editorial board for Education and the Law, and was appointed to the publications committee of the Education Law Associate.
