Brief Bio:
Professor Nisha Mistry is a licensed attorney and community economic development practitioner with 15 years of senior-level professional experience. Her work has spanned municipal operations management, strategic policy advising, consulting, and applied urban research. She has authored reports on urban reindustrialization strategy for Brookings Metro and is co-editor of Law Between Buildings: Emergent Global Perspectives in Urban Law (Routledge, 2017). Professor Mistry has served as an independent consultant to the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, among other clients.

Professor Mistry is an Assistant Professor of Practice at Cleveland State University, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Urban & Regional Studies and Public Administration. Her goal as an educator is to help students bridge classroom learning and practical experience across the diverse fields that shape life in cities.

Professor Mistry was born in Newark, New Jersey and attended New York public schools. She speaks Gujarati, Hindi, and German.
