| Dr. Cox is currently an Associate Professor at Cleveland State University, and Director of the Voice and Swallowing Lab in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders also at Cleveland State University. Dr. Cox graduated from Columbia University New York with a Master of Science in Speech-language Pathology, and a PhD in Neurogenic Communication Disorders from Kent State University, Kent Ohio. Additionally, Dr. Cox also graduated from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law with a Masters of Legal Studies. Dr.Cox specializes in voice, swallowing and adult language disorders. Her line of research covers Rare diseases that cause Dysphagia; Burning Mouth Syndrome in Parkinson's disease and its affects on swallowing; Aerodynamics and Dysphagia. Dr. Cox is a specialst in Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of the Swallow (FEES) as well as in Videostroboscopy. She provides semiars in the training of SLPs in both FEES and Videostroboscopy. Currently Dr. Cox is conducting two lines of research (1) Vocal Fold Closure Pattern of Trained and Untrained singers; and the incidence and Prevalence of Parkinson's disease in Minority groups. Dr.Cox is the author of the textbook "Rare Disorders that Cause Dysphagia." In addition to her work at Cleveland State University, Dr. Cox still finds time for Community Service. She is a member of the Ohio Parkinson's Foundation Board where she serves as secretary. She has been a practicing Speech-language Pathologist for over 25 years in New York and in Cleveland Ohio. She has been an invited speaker for national organizations such as the National Parkinson's Association, National Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, National Myositis Convention, and has presented her work at Conventions such as The American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and the National Black Speech Language Hearing Association (NBSLHA). | ||
