Brief Bio:
Sanda Kaufman is Professor Emerita of Planning, Public Policy and Administration. Her research field is public decision making. Her research focus is negotiation and intervention in the urban, environmental, and organizational contexts. She also collaborates with colleagues from other disciplines to model complex social processes such as social polarization. She has mediated small claims disputes, designed dispute resolution systems and mediation training materials, worked on organizational conflict management, and facilitated community consensus building. Her articles have been published in the Journal of Planning, Education and Research; Journal of Architectural Planning and Research; Planning Theory and Practice; Evaluation and Program Planning; the International Journal of Conflict Management; Journal of Conflict Resolution; Cardozo Journal of Dispute Resolution; the Negotiation Journal; Negotiation and Conflict Management Research; Conflict Resolution Quarterly; Applied Network Science; Environmental Practice; International Journal of Disaster Risk Reductions; Négociations; Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Application; Entropy; Physica; Physics; International Journal of Economic Development; Policy and Complex Systems; Hamline Journal of Public Law and Policy; and Fractals.

Public decision processes; negotiation and conflict management in planning and environmental disputes, and in hybrid warfare; social-environmental systems resilience; planning in the context of Legacy cities; interdisciplinary approaches to the study of social conflict--dynamic models on networks for anticipating outcomes of two-group conflicts; dynamic modeling of labor-management negotiations; anticipatory scenarios of regional effects of local policies.
