Brief Bio:
Sarah Rutherford is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Cleveland State University and the President of AIGA Cleveland. Her research explores design pedagogy, learning retention, and collaborative work strategies. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Communication Design at Kent State University. A Missouri native, Sarah earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Truman State University. She worked professionally as a designer in Washington, D.C. for Paper Source and the National Parks Conservation Association, where her work was recognized by HOW Magazine.

In her previous role as Education Director for AIGA Cleveland, Sarah coordinated numerous events for area students including the Emerge Mentoring program and the Spring Portfolio Review and Conference. In addition to educational programming for the chapter, she has been active in the Get Out the Vote initiative, serving as a writer for the July 2016 Get Out the Vote poster exhibition at the Galleries at CSU, a project named as a Midwest regional winner in the 2017 Print Regional Design Annual. She was also a project leader for the Get Out the Vote Design + Community video series.
