Brief Bio:
Dr. O'Loughlin is known for her work in physical therapy (PT) clinical education particularly as it relates to enhancing the academic-clinical partnership, developing mentoring relationships and advancing clinical instructor training.  Other areas of special interest and research include developing and evaluating novel teaching methods and cultural competence training for professional students and practitioners.  Her publications have explored the efficacy of the `Professional Development Plan¿ as a method to facilitate professionalism and professional involvement of PT students, as well as the development and evaluation of curriculum model to facilitate cultural competence among PT students and practitioners.

Dr. O'Loughlin is a frequently invited speaker on clinical education, professionalism, cultural competence training and other topics related to physical therapy professional education. She has been actively involved in American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) activities; is a credentialed trainer for the APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program (CCIP) as well as for the Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program (ACCIP), served as member and chair of the APTA Clinical Instructor Education & Credentialing Board (CIEB), was a member of the APTA task force that developed the PT Student Evaluation: Clinical Experience and Clinical Instruction form, and has been member and chair of the APTA Section for Education, Clinical Education Special Interest Group, the Ohio Physical Therapy Association (OPTA) and the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT) Nominating Committees.  In addition, Dr. O'Loughlin served on the APTA Cultural Competence Committee Ad Hoc Task Force to develop a Cultural Competence Curriculum Blueprint for physical therapy professional education.  Dr. O¿Loughlin currently holds a position as a faculty member for the APTA CCIP Train-the-Trainer Program and is a member of the OPTA Conference Planning Committee.
